This article is from the October 1989 edition of Australian Gliding. It recounts the inspiration and orogins of two gliding clubs, the Adelaide University Engineers' Gliger Club (AUEGC) and the Gliding Club of South Australia in 1929. It is fascinating to look back to the time of the construction of the first glider in South Australia and the formation of the first gliding clubs. The article also hints at why gliding continues to attrace people with engineering backgrounds to this day.
